Why does every kid at school have braces?

Why does every kid at school have braces?

Nowadays, it looks like all kids at school have braces!  Dr. Sarah Jovanovski sees MANY kids from from ALL Round Rock ISD Schools, including: Stony Point HS, Gattis Elementary, Hopewell Elementary, Cactus Ranch Elementary School, Chandler Oaks Elementary School, Ridgeview Middle School, and Cedar Ridge High School.  Kids can need braces for any number of reasons,” says Dr. Sarah Jovan “including crooked, overlapping, or overcrowded teeth, or a "bad bite" (known as malocclusion).”

What is a Malocclusion? Simply, its when there's a difference in the sizes of upper and lower jaws. Have you ever tried on 2 shoes that have different sizes from one another? One is too big, one is too small--- They don’t fit, or work in unison with one another!  When the upper jaw is bigger than the lower jaw, it's called an overbite. When the lower jaw is bigger, it's called an underbite.  Having a mismatch in the jaws can create problems in your child’s bite, or affect the proportions and beauty of the face.

See a specialist! Dr. Sarah Jovanovski, at Jovan Orthodontics, in Round Rock, Texas provides a mother’s touch to your child’s care.  Dr. Sarah is a proud mother that will take care in treating your child’s needs, on an individual basis, without a corporate bias.  Orthodontists are selected from the top 2% of the graduating dental class, and focus the rest of their lives to specializing in treating orthodontics.

How can my general dentist help?
Often, your child's dentist will be the first to notice problems during a regular visit and recommend that you see an orthodontist (a dentist who specializes in correcting jaw and/or teeth alignment problems). The orthodontist can decide whether your child does indeed need braces and which devices would be best. Dr. Sarah Jovanovski works closely with general dentists, pediatric specialists, and oral surgeons in providing the best care for your child.
